MOVIE REVIEW:

  • Love has been narrated in many ways in Tamil cinema. Love at first sight, love without seeing each other and love after death et al had formed part of many Tamil movies. But 'Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Eppadi' is different from all the above types. A feel-good entertainer, it is made from a short film that ran for ten minutes. There is no big story but collection of events in the lives of a lover couple that forms the crux. With Siddharth and Amala Paul playing pivotal roles, the movie is narrated from the male protagonist's point of view.
  • From the word go, director Balaji Mohan has made it a point not to stick to formula films. He has painstakingly created scenes that are close to reality, one could see in the life of every youngster today.
  • There is an underlying message in the movie which Balaji Mohan convincingly conveys. For any relationship to succeed there should be sacrifice and understanding of each other's feelings. A sense of jolly fun ride prevails all through.Arun (Siddharth) develops romance with collegemate Parvathi (Amala Paul). They start off as friends and end up in romance. After initial days of fun and frolic in the relationship, misunderstandings slowly crop up.
  • Meanwhile Parvathy's parents file for a divorce. It haunts her. Turn of events lead to more arguments and bickering between them and they split. Arun narrates his experiences as he comes across various kinds of love by his friends. Did they reunite and what happened to Parvathy's parents forms the climax.
  • Siddharth is bubbly and energetic. He provides right emotions in every scene. His expressions when he loses his love, arguments with his girlfriend and advising every friend on their romantic escapades are captured well.
  • Amala Paul is bright and bubbly. She plays a typical college girl who pampers her lover. Her heated exchanges with Siddharth and emotional encounters with her parents are good. The onscreen chemistry between the lead pair works well. The supporting cast including Suresh, Ravi Raghavender, Balaji, Shyam, Arjun, Surekha Vani and Sivaranjani have played well.
  • Nirav Shah's camera work deserves a special mention. He captures in all clarity the events that unfold on screen. Thaman's youthful music enhances the mood. The highlight of the movie is the casual dialogues. They are sure to get a warm welcome among students.Though the second half lags a bit, the movie is breezy cool and entertaining. Three cheers Balaji Mohan for a good debut venture.
